SEARCH AND TEACH

This is an early skills development program that is designed to search out

5 and 6-year-old children who may be at risk for reading struggles by screening those perceptual areas that are foundational to academic success. The screening uses non reading techniques to see if a child is aware of certain perceptions critical to the reading process.  If there are areas that need enrichment, they can be found before the child begins to struggle and fall behind. Upon completion of the screening, an individually prescribed program is established to stimulate those areas of perception that may be in need of support.  The Search and Teach program is also an individual or small group approach (determined by the need and by the therapist).  Students are seen for approximately 45 minutes a day, three days a week. We develop classroom skills as well as strategies for them to use while they learn.
